Our choir is heading to the Nationals
Wema Centre's choir topped the Coast regional Kenya Music Festival 2026 in Mombasa — qualifying to perform four items at the national finals in Bungoma.
There is a particular joy in watching children who have known hard beginnings stand tall and sing. This season, our choir carried that joy all the way to the top of the Coast regional Kenya Music Festival 2026.
Hosted by Mombasa County at Shimo la Tewa, the regional festival drew choirs from across the coast. Our young singers more than rose to the occasion — they topped it.
How they placed
- Two items placed 1st and 2nd, qualifying directly for the national finals.
- Two more items placed 3rd with marks strong enough to earn a place at the Nationals too.
In all, the choir will perform four items at the National Kenya Music Festival 2026 in Bungoma.
More than a trophy
The choir is one of the ways our psychosocial support programme helps children rebuild confidence, discipline and a sense of belonging. Every rehearsal is a small act of restoration; every stage is proof of how far a child can travel when someone believes in them.
Our thanks go to the teachers, coaches and volunteers who have trained and travelled with these children — and to everyone who walks with Wema. Keep our choir in your thoughts as they prepare for Bungoma.
